2023 RESEARCH INITIATIVES

Complex Trauma Canada is engaged in three unique research projects in 2023.

A.C.E. INDEX - ADVERSE CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES

The research team at CTC have replicated a study of the Adverse Childhood Experience Index originally conducted in 1996 by Kaiser Permanente in California, which correlated Childhood Trauma with negative medical outcomes later in life.  You can participate in this study anonymously for yourself and/or your child by clicking below.

PARENT / CHILD ALIENATION - SUICIDE

Parental Alienation / Child Alienation leads to increased risk of suicide both in the alienated parent and the child of alienation.  Much of the Trauma which leads to suicidal ideation results from the disruption in family hierarchy caused by the Family Courts.

FALSE ALLEGATIONS / WRONGFUL CONVICTIONS (FAWC) - PTSD / CPTSD

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a common diagnosis in Military veterans after returning from deployment.  The radical increase in False Allegations has lead to a significant increase in PTSD diagnoses both within the Military Community and in General Society. Those who must defend themselves against false allegations or appeal wrongful convictions. In this study CTC is assessing the correlation between PTSD and CPTSD diagnoses  from Military Veterans and comparing those with PTSD and CPTSD diagnoses from the falsely accused or wrongfully convicted.

 Adverse Childhood Experiences
(A.C.E. Index)

Childhood Trauma is where Complex Trauma is born; it is the compound psychological effect of multiple traumatic events on a child, ranging from Adversarial Energy In the Home, Separation or Divorce, to Sexual Assault and Child Trafficking. These events are often of an invasive, interpersonal nature—and lead to wide-ranging, long-term detrimental health effects , including obesity, anorexia, suicidal ideation, drug and alcohol addiction and pervasive mental health issues.

Chances are,  YOU experienced 1 or more of these Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE's), and your parents may have experienced 3 or more.

Inter-Generational Complex Trauma leads to 2 out of every 3 pre-mature deaths, and nobody is talking about it.

Who Does Childhood Trauma Affect?

It's probably affecting you right now. Complex trauma describes both children's exposure to traumatic events, often of an invasive, interpersonal nature and the wide-ranging, often life-long effects of this exposure.

Can Childhood Trauma Be Treated?

Yes! Childhood trauma has a deep impact on the nervous system. By understanding how trauma develops, effective treatments can be administered for post traumatic growth and celebration.

DO YOU HAVE AN ACE UP YOUR YOUR SLEEVE?

DOES YOUR CHILD HAVE POCKET ACE'S?

An ACE score is a tally of different types of abuse, neglect, and other hallmarks of a rough childhood. According to the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study, the rougher your childhood, the higher your score is likely to be and the higher your risk for later health problems. You can take the ACE Quiz by selecting answers to the 10 questions below.
The Quiz should take no more than 2 minutes to complete.

Were your parents ever separated or divorced?
